Gaye Adegbalola and the Wild Rutz, an a capella blues quartet, consists of Gaye Adegbalola, GloriaRain, Marta Fuentes and Tanyah Dadze. They combine four very unique voices with percussion to present a humorous, informative, uplifting and entertaining show of roots music — blues, R&B, work songs, field hollers, and spirituals — in support of empowerment and equality for all.
Susan Singer, “One Billion Rising” organizer writes “Your choice of songs was flawless. Your showmanship, as always, was stupendous. Your musicianship was fabulous. And your generosity of spirit pervaded the Coliseum and helped make the day the incredible event it was.”
In regard to Gaye’s originals, renown blues journalist, David Whiteis, writes in Living Blues Magazine, “But it’s that very uncompromising strength — of music, of imagination, of spirit — that makes this disc special. Here Gaye Adegbalola offers new proof — if we needed it — that the blues remains a music of relevance and social impact.”
Proceed from this concert will go toward the MCC Richmond building restoration fund.
