"There are no explicit themes underlying my work. Instead, each painting is like a journal entry, serving as an expression and a landmark of my past. Some depict dreams or come from free association, while others have almost no unconscious elements. I’ve left my paintings untitled to avoid imposing any particular interpretation on them. Their ambiguity is an essential fact of the experiences I’m trying to capture. While I would call this surrealism, I’m more interested in using surrealist elements to enhance the underlying expression rather than for their own sake." -Kevin Mckee
Biography:
Kevin McKee is a painter from Richmond, Virginia, pursuing separate careers in art and science, both stemming from his lifelong interest in philosophy and human cognition. Kevin earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012 and is currently pursuing graduate studies in statistics. His paintings have been exhibited alongside student work by VCU Communication Arts and also independently at galleries and restaurants around Richmond, Virginia.
