CHRISTMAS ON THE ROCKS, a zany new comedy, will launch the holiday season at Richmond Triangle Players, opening Thursday, November 19 at 8 pm, following a low-priced preview on Wednesday, November 18 at 8 pm. Sponsored by Virginia Estate and Planning PLC, the show features the kids from your favorite holiday shows and movies --all grown-up, shaken and stirred, and served with a twist!
Conceived by Rob Ruggiero, artistic director of TheatreWorks in Hartford (CT), the production is a collection of seven short plays, each by a different author -- John Cariani, Jeffrey Hatcher, Jacques Lamarre, Matthew Lombardo, Theresa Rebeck, Edwin Sánchez, and Jonathan Tolins – and each taking place in a bar on Christmas Eve. The plays all feature a different character from a revered holiday film or TV special – from A Christmas Carol’s Tiny Tim and The Nutcracker’s Clara, to The Grinch’s Cindy Lou Who and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’s Hermey the Elf – who are all grown up and pour out their Christmas woes in this delightful parody.
Set design for CHRISTMAS ON THE ROCKS is by David Allan Ballas and Michael Maddix, costume design is by D. Mark Souza, hair and wig design is by Joel Furtick, lighting design is by Andrew Bonniwell, and sound is by Joey Luck. Stage Manager is Sharon Gregory, and Production Manager is Lucian Restivo.
