The Richmond International Film Festival (RIFF) brings an array of more than 120 cutting edge films, industry panels, Q&As, live musical performances, and entertainment mixers that usher the spirit of Hollywood into Virginia’s historic Byrd Theater, a venue touted by USA Today as “one of the top 10 places to still see a movie in splendor in the United States.” New expansions this year include FLOW, the first annual creative conference. RIFF honors some of the most singularly entertaining projects on the international film scene.
During festival week, Official Selection filmmakers and writers from around the world are in attendance as they compete for top honors with the audience and Grand Jury. Official Selection films of all genres and niches — including short-form and feature-length works — will be screened. The four day event includes many special events that are open to the public, industry panels, filmmaker and writer Q&As, music showcases, and the annual Red Carpet Awards Ceremony where the Grand Jury and Audience Awards will be announced.
Through its film productions, shot in Virginia each winter, the festival also provides a collaborative platform between the local arts community, Virginia talent, and other talent around the world. Through its GenerationMIX Community Outreach Day and its Youth Roundtable Film Series, RIFF proudly champions creativity and leadership development for young people with a passion for the arts.
